I am entering this as a groom for my bride to be. She is an amazing woman and absolutely deserves the wedding of her dreams. Rachel and I have been together now for 4 years and she has stayed with me through thick and thin. There is no person who is as caring, funny, giving and beautiful both inside and out as her. I finally got the nerve to pop the question this past Christmas morning and was ridiculously nervous. It’s funny she can still do that to me. Christmas is my favorite holiday so even though it was my day to get up with the dog, I knew she would jump up so I wouldn’t have to as a little gift to me. Although it didn’t go exactly as planned, I had waiting on the dog kennel a ring which once belonged to her late grandmother ready to slide on her finger. When the puppy started whining for us to get up, she jumped up and got into the shower. Stunned, I had to just wait and be patient for her to come out of the bathroom. I grabbed my santa hat and layed in bed and acted like I was asleep. When she came out and grabbed the kennel she saw a note and the ring box sitting and thought at first it was a gift to the dog until I popped up and dropped on one knee as she was opening the box. She was flabbergasted and began crying before the words even came out of my mouth. I told her that I had been waiting for the perfect moment and there was no better gift she could give me than to be my wife. She yelled of course and immediately started calling all her family and friends! It was truly a magical Christmas morning!
Rachel and I met at work in Bee Cave and have moved together across country to Montana and Idaho. We ended up back here in Austin and have opened a business. Starting a food business can put a strain on finances and bring your spirits down when planning a wedding so this would really be the ultimate wedding for us both. Thank you for your consideration!
The Best Damn Love Story Ever
Alyssa and I met one day in an english class while attending Round Rock High School.I looked at her and remember thinking she was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. It was by complete luck that she would happen
to be one of my good friends cousins, Score! Needless to say we became an item just a few weeks later. About a year went by when we were hit with the shocking news that we were going to be parents. So there we were, young and
scared not knowing what the future held for us. We knew no matter what everyone else said that if we loved each other, we had a shot.
Dominic was born on Dec. 8, 2004. Alot changed for the two of us. I was a greenhorn at a paint and body shop, and she was a new and blossoming mother. We were again hit with some unexpected news, her dad michael had
cancer and Passed in Oct. She was going through alot and i knew that she needed me and Dominic to be strong for her. To make things even more unbelievable her older brother and best friend Ryan passed away unexpectedly about three
weeks later. We were devastated by their losses.
That next christmas,I hid a ring in an ornament on the tree, and told her i would be there forever. She willingly accepted and there we were, living on faith again. Its been about five years sence. In that five
years my job would turn into a career and our one child turned to two, Alyssa is an awesome mom and fiance. Even with the loss of her mom in dec 2010 she remains a strong woman for our family and deserves the best in the world.
I would have married her long ago, but i have been holding out for the day when i can give her the white wedding she has always dreamed of. Life has been crazy for us but were 7 years strong now, and think its time to seal the deal
Distance. Funny how it always tends to keep people apart. But that wasn’t always our case. This 8 year journey started right down the street… when she moved into my neighborhood as a young teenager.
Come to think of it, that one block proved to be too distant. She said her parents disapproved of my age (I’m 3 years older), but we both knew my ethnicity played a major role in why I couldn’t visit her residence…much less date her. We agreed to meet halfway on a corner lot to talk. And that’s where our friendship really blossomed.
It became our regular meeting place. Even when we moved away for college; and further, still, to start our careers. Throughout the years, we’d return to our lot. Our haven.
Tears. Laughter. Advice. Stories. A few quick kisses when heart strings tugged harder than self-control. We turned that place into our own hiding spot. In plain sight. Many times the words were left unspoken. The comfortable silence and sideways glances would say it all.
Now young adults free from parental scorn, it was the negative pairing of “distance” and “relationship” which handcuffed us with doubt. Amor de lejos es amor de pendejos. That’s what I was told. Long distance relationships just don’t work.
And, yet, we continued to toe the line. Always aware of the “why”; always short of the “how”. We’d spend the following years in failed relationships, find solace in each other’s phone call, and continue on.
Then one day, she’d had enough. Enough mistreatment. Enough mistakes. Enough pretending friendship was where our buck stopped. She made the 450 mile leap of faith and with one kiss, sealed the deal.
A few years later, we returned to our spot for old times’ sake.
I dropped to one knee.
She cried and nodded her head.
And as I stood up, the distance forever faded away.
